Second Suspect Captured, Surveillance Video of Brutal NY Gay Bashing Released
(Oct. 14) Daniel Rodriguez, the second suspect in the brutal beating of openly gay Jack Price, was arrested by US Marshals in Norfolk, VA on Tuesday.
Recently installed surveillance videos in the area, meant to deter graffiti tagging, captured the assault.
Price remains in critical condition at New York Hospital Queens, hooked up to a respirator.
"Both his lungs are collapsed. All his ribs are broken, his spleen had surgery, and he had to get a metal plate put in his jaw," Joanne Guarneri, Price’s sister-in-law, said.
"It's a despicable crime," Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said of the assault in College Point, where the victim and his alleged attackers all live.
"The individual was attacked simply for his orientation, and we're just not going to tolerate it in this city."
The other attacker, Daniel Aleman (left) was captured Sunday and was arraigned on a charge of felony assault as a hate crime. He is being held on a $20,000 bail.

"As Americans, each of us is free to choose where and how we want to live our lives," Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said.
"An illustrative example of that freedom is clearly Queens County, the most culturally diverse county in the nation. Crimes of hate will never be tolerated here."
Price was mocked with anti-gay slurs by the two men as he was walking to a deli. When he left the store, the slurs continued, Brown said, and then the suspects attacked.
The video is from one of several surveillance cameras installed in the area by the College Point Board of Trade to deter graffiti.
Openly Gay New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn said the video illustrates the "hatred and bigotry" behind the assault.
"I know the Queens community is outraged that hate has tainted their streets ...," said Quinn..
"To do this as a human being, no matter what their sexuality is, is a disgrace," Guarneri said. “This man would not hurt a soul. He's five foot six and 130 pounds.”
