Michael Jackson Nominated forAMA’s Artist of the Year

 

(Oct. 13) Michael Jackson has received five nominations, including Artist of the year, for an 2009 American Music Award.  Eminem, Kings of Leon, Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift were also nominated.

 

Country artist Swift leads all artists this year with six nominations.  Jackson has five nominations and Eminem follows with four.  Beyonce, Black Eyed Peas, Lady Gaga, Kings of Leon and T.I. each received three nominations.

 

Nominations for the 2009 American Music Awards are in eight categories: Pop/Rock, Country, Soul/Rhythm & Blues, Rap/Hip Hop, Latin Music, Alternative Music, Contemporary Inspirational, and Adult Contemporary categories.

 

T-Mobile will present the Breakthrough artist award.

 

A total of 20 awards will be presented during the 2009 American Music Awards ceremony, which will air live from Los Angeles at the Nokia Theatre on Sunday, November 22 on ABC.  Tickets are available at www.ticketmaster.com.

 

Winners will be select by online voting from fans at www.ama.abc.com, www.amavote.com and www.mycokerewards.com.  Online voting begins today.

Openly gay Lambert, American Idol runner-up, has been confirmed to perform music from his forthcoming, still untitled, CD.  Additional acts are to be announced in the coming weeks.

 

Paula Abdul, Adam Lambert and Snoop Dogg announced the nominations Tuesday Morning.
